This is the first wildlife painting I ever did, it’s very small, 6 x 6 inches. I really didn’t think i could do it so I only attempted it on canvas paper, which is thick, treated paper you can buy in pads and do oil paintings on. It’s a cheap alternative to canvas and I couldn’t afford anything else at the time and it’s great for learning and easy to frame.
This guy turned out better than expected and gave me a bit of confidence to try something else. I remember putting it on my desk and looking at it every day and thinking “did I paint that?” because I thought I painted so awful. Though it’s not perfect, at least it looks like a falcon, which is half the battle 🙂
