This is my serious face

This is my serious face, Gouache on Canson Canvas paper, 12 x 16 inches

I have been experimenting with painting with brushes lately instead of pencil crayons and pastel crayons.

I started with acrylics but to be honest I don’t really like them. And then I tried to wash and I really love them. I think it’s because they dry very quickly and give beautiful matte colours. It just seems to be the right medium for me. I use Holbein gouache and stick to limited palette: Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine Blue and Alizarin Crimson. I added a watercolour Paynes Grey because Holbein doesn’t make a gouache in it.

I have been really struggling mentally lately. Facing some big financial problems, missed 2 house payments. Still waiting for my Veterans claim, but found out today a buddy of mine waited 18 months. It’s been over 6 months wait for me. Awful to make people with mental disorders and depression wait so long.

I think it’s time I write my story down as if it was a news article because I need to get it out. I realize there’s no justice in this world but when you’re destitute, it hurts to know people who did this to you got away with it. Trying to count my blessings but it’s hard just to get out of bed.

Curioser and Curioser

Done on Fabriano wc paper, hot press with Polychromos pencils

this paper is fabulous, it takes a beating! Not my favourite artwork, but it’s all practice!

Coo coo I see you!

Fox kit, Polychromos on Fabriano Bristol

I bought some poly chromos pencil crayons lately for my birthday and I must say there’s a huge difference between them and the cheaper made prismacolours.

To achieve the wood look I shaded in the tones first in the proper colours and then I took of burnt umber pencil and lightly shaded over it, probably about three or four layers and it turned out to blend it and make it look very authentic. So that was a surprise to me.

I am really liking these coloured pencils as an art medium. I thought they were for kids but the detail you can achieve is amazing.

Hungry Fox

Hungry Fox, pastels on MT Touch

I started a series of smaller, close up wildlife photos. I began with this one, which is a donation to the Ottawa Bach Choir.

Owl, pastels on sanded Linen paper

I thought, why not do a series, as I usually do larger size such as 16″ x 20″. I found that I really liked working in smaller detail like this.

I have not received compensation from the Canadian forces in over two months. It is part of the continuing bullying and delays that are characteristic of the unit that hired me for four years. They always seemed to be in a hurry when they wanted work from me!

I can’t wait any further until I become a homeless veteran. I have to find a job immediately. I apply for about 10 jobs per day. Of course this will mess up my compensation plus I am not in any condition to work a full-time job according to my doctor but I have no choice. I don’t want any handouts from anyone.

I’ve already missed two house payments so far. I just have to live with the stress of it and just keep on trying job after job. I won’t and I can’t give up now. It’s very cruel of the Canadian forces to treat me this way but life goes on I have to just make the best of it.

From now on I’m not having any appointments from anybody in the Canadian forces unless they can give me an answer for this compensation. By the way I used to work beside the guy who gives the approval for the compensation and it should only take one day. But me, it is 2 months plus.

So I am searching for a communications job that wants a dynamic, dedicated problem solver who wants to WORK. Which is why my last supervisor got rid of me, he knew I was way more capable of producing work far superior to him and he was too insecure to handle it.

Kit Fox part 2

This is simply an improvement on an earlier attempt, not sure if I succeeded. Am in a bit of a slump. No income, no compensation. After about a month wait for approval, the IPSC contacted my unit to see if my compensation was approved and they let her know ( not me) that they were missing a form from me. I wonder what would happen if I was in charge of a file and I let that slide for a month???? Hmmmm… Probably a written warning. But many at DND carry a special Degree after their name…Maj DA Bloggins, CYA . They always cover their arses and you can’t pin them.

Thank goodness I have a part time job otherwise I would be homeless. The Legion does offer assistance but I hope it doesn’t come to that, I am able to work, just not with bullies and back stabbing fraudsters.

My painting is awful lately, maybe need to try another style or medium.
